Tanglewood Kennels, located in Houston County , Alabama , began in 1990 with only four rustic outdoor kennels. The business has since grown and changed its name to Tanglewood Pet Motel and re-opened its doors on November 1, 2002 . The Pet Motel facilities will presently accommodate up to twenty-four dogs, twelve cats, numerous birds in their cages and a host of small critter animals.
Tanglewood Pet Motel offer services in the pet care industries exclusively. Services include the caring of pets while their owners are away and also arrange for and transport animals to a grooming service if requested.
Tanglewood Pet Motel's kennels are 5 x 15 feet each. With a customer base of one hundred and ninety-six, Tanglewood Pet Motel pampers their guests.
Future plans for Tanglewood Pet Motel will develop in five phases which includes:
- Dog Park – Dogs will have their own park dedicated to their fun and enjoyment. The park will be fully fenced and with a pond and drinking fountains for both the animals and their owners.
- Grooming service (spa) - Animals will be treated to luxury pampering. The Pet Motel will provide the space, chemicals, towels and laundry. The will also provide the services of the addition of a full-time independent pet groomer.
- Garden of Memories – Pet owners to purchase a brick, a park bench or a statue in memory of their beloved departed pet. A portion of the proceeds will be forwarded for additional support to the local shelters. This quite natural park where supporter can visit, reflect and enjoy the solitude while remembering their animals.
- Relocation Service - A traveling service for pet owners in the military to have their animals shipped to them.
- Expansion of Office and Runs - An upgrade of office space and four new runs for additional pets, which will consist of utility and water closet to increase the number of animals.

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
